| CAMRA LocAle is an initiative that promotes pubs which endeavour always to stock at least one locally brewed real ale. The scheme builds on a growing consumer demand for quality local produce and an increasing awareness of green issues. The scheme was created in 2007 by CAMRAs Nottingham branch which wanted to help support the tradition of brewing within Nottinghamshire, following the demise of local brewer Hardys and Hansons. | |
| Everyone benefits from local pubs stocking locally-brewed real ale - | |
| ¤ Public houses because stocking local real ales can increase pub visits | |
| ¤ Consumers who enjoy greater beer choice and diversity | |
| ¤ Local brewers who gain from increased sales | |
| ¤ The local economy because more money is spent and retained locally | |
| ¤ The environment due to fewer beer miles resulting in less road congestion and pollution | |
| ¤ Tourism due to an increased sense of local identity and pride lets celebrate what makes our locality different | |
| Gloucestershire Branch started its LocAle campaign at the beginning of 2009, and we and North Cotswold branch between us have now signed up over 50 pubs across the county. View the current list. | |
| Our definition of local is that a beer should be brewed either in the county or within 30 road miles of the pub; only one of the ales at any one time need be local for a pub to qualify. If your local is not already part of the scheme ask the landlord why not there is no fee for signing up. If he or she is interested please get in touch with us (see branch contacts) and we will take it from there. | |
| There is a wide range of excellent real ales brewed in our area, which we should all be able to enjoy. Many have won awards both regional and national but are still difficult to find on our bars, We need to remedy this sad situation. | |
