Dave McCredie was a former employee at the Whitbread Brewery in Cheltenham and founded the Berkeley Brewery at Buckets Hill Farm near Sharpness in 1994.

Initially Dave brewed on a part time basis but commenced full time brewing in 1997, producing fine traditional ales.

On Thursday 3rd August 2000 Dave was returning home after delivering his beer in Wiltshire when he lost control of his van near the village of Charlton. It left the road and hit a tree trapping Dave in the drivers seat. Tragically Dave later

died at Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon.
