Formerly the Gotherington Arms and a pub
since 1755 when William Wilks was
licensed to keep an ale house. It
acquired its unusual name in 1818 when
shutters were removed and used as tables
to serve food to large race crowds. At
leaat one of the ales is local. Local
photographs adorn the modernised bar,
which serves up to three real ales. A
new restaurant and a sixty foot skittle
alley are both located at the rear of
the pub. More traditional pastimes
catered for at the TV end of the bar
include billiards and darts. There is a
regular quiz on Monday night. At the
rear of the pub is a ramp for disabled
access. The garden has an assault course
for children.
