Large and popular one-bar, 200-year old
village pub in the heart of the forest,
near the newly completed Dean Forest
Railway terminus with steam train trips
from Lydney. Walls and ceilings are
crammed with interesting artefacts and
tools, many of which relate to the local
area and are worthy museum pieces.
Frequented by tourists and locals alike.
Welcoming atmosphere, good standard of
accommodation (some rooms with disabled
facilities) and good food. Specialises
in curry and boasts an award-winning
children's menu. A bunkhouse sleeping
32, caters for ramblers, in addition to
the eight ensuite guest rooms. Quoits
played.
