Built in 1880 on the site of an 1840
beer house, this handsome stone building
offers four regional ale pumps plus
Aston Still cider. The spacious interior
is comfortable with three large
chesterfield armchairs close to the
fire. It is a popular pub with families
and locals with a separate pool table
area and restaurant. The attentive staff
keep the level of piped music to an
acceptable level. There's an adventure
playground for the kids.

Stroud's jazz and blues pub; jazz plays
quietly in the background and live music
is performed on Thursday evening. The
music is inclined to be louder at
weekends. The pub has one main bar with
two alcoves leading off where musical
instruments and jazz memorabilia
decorate the walls. Customers may play
records of their choice in the upper
alcove. Two coal fires add to the homely
atmosphere. Light lunches during the
week and Sunday lunches also served.
Beer garden. A nearby public car park is
free after 1800 and all day Sunday.

Wetherspoon's sympathetic conversion of
the old postal sorting office has
produced an L-shaped bar with a
south-facing walled garden. A
comfortable bar with no music produces a
relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy
the range of ales. There is an input
from the regulars as to the choice of
guest ales from Wetherspoon's list,
giving a greater variety of guests than
in other JJW outlets in Gloucestershire.

GUEST BEER Beer range varies (H)

This imposing building used to be the
Victoria and formerly housed the
Gloucester Street Forge. Records show
that it was owned by the Nailsworth
Brewery in 1891. The large single bar
always has four guest beers from small
independent micro breweries. There is a
large function room which is home to
Beer Festivals in March and September.
This community pub has Quiz, Darts and
Pool teams in the local leagues. There
is live music Thursday to Saturday
evenings. The pub also hosts the Dead
Earnest Theatre Company.
